Sawtak (‘Your Voice’) To Help Egyptians Cast Their Vote

November 2011, Cairo, Egypt. Bright Creations, the Cairo-based software house for online products and services, in partnership with Etisalat Egypt, today announced the release of Sawtak, an online and mobile application that gives Egyptian citizens the information they need to understand the Egypt electionary process and how they can go about voting in the upcoming landmark parliamentary elections. The application will be accessible on www.sawtak.me, and available for download for iPhone, Blackberry and Android Smart phones, and critically, available as a WAP site for more basic handsets.

The application provides comprehensive and impartial information on all parts of the election process. Information such as registration processes, which constituency a voter belongs to, which contests a voter can cast their ballot for, the complete lists of parties and candidates, and the locations to vote are all available on Sawtak.Using an Egyptian ID number, any Egyptian citizen can find out everything they need to know to be prepared for the upcoming parliamentary elections in Egypt.

Sawtak is objective in nature and provides no candidate or party profiles, restricting itself to only the candidate name, party name, constituency and link to their website. The information is sourced from the Ministry of State for Administrative Development (www.elections2011.eg). Features of the application include the ability to add candidates and political parties to a favorites list for a user to return to in more detail later. The personal privacy of each voter is ensured by storing the information only on the user’s handset.

“We’re delighted to launch an application that will help Egyptians understand how the upcoming parliamentary elections will work,” said Mahamad El Tanahy, managing director of Bright Creations. “Many have taken an interest in voting for the very first time, and we’re proud to be a part of helping this process become a more informed one.”

“We’ve focused on mobile for the role it played in Egypt’s recent revolution, and by providing WAP mobile site access, alongside Smartphone applications, we feel we’ll reach the widest audience possible” he added.

The Sawtak WAP version can be accessed at www.sawtak.me, where there are links to all the various Smartphone applications include iPhone, Android, and the soon to be announced Blackberry application.
